Digging out two of my earlier paintings for an upcoming exhibition at The Fire House felt like reconnecting with old friends. These works are for the upcoming ‘Emerging Journeys’ exhibition. They illustrate nicely part of my personal journey. A moment on the road – 2021 – 64*64 cmThis painting was quite a challenge for me, it was the largest piece I’d worked on in years. And opened up a whole set of problems to be overcome. With the rain -2022 – 33 *33cm – This was great size wise but I struggled with representing the layers through the space.1 hour 33 minutes -2024 – 51*63cm – This one is quite recent I think from earlier in the year, and I like the element of stillness a much quieter piece of work. The upcoming exhibition is from 29 November and runs through to the end of Feb next year. It’s at an exciting new art space in Northallerton. [I wish I lived nearer!]The Fire House, Thurston Road, Northallerton, DL6 2NDMassive shout out to the SCAF @scottcreativeartsfoundation and their wonderful team for all the work that’s gone into this event.@young.jane @aliciadore_ @ameliapethullisart #urbanart #oilpainting #art #artoftheday #artexhibition #instaart#louiseventris_paintings

Started something new this weekend, WIP another scene of everyday reality, reflecting on time – a blend of motion and stillness, light and shadow, capturing the fleeting as it rushes by and pauses simultaneously. Sadly the end of a weekend painting – dark skies looming and forms blurred by the motion and the night. Not sure if I’m quite nailing the work – painting – life balance.#urbanart #art#artoftheday #instart #smallpaintings #oilpainting#cars #myart #artist

Looking forward to the weekend. This week’s been busy. Hours spent making a mess sorting through work— getting work ready to show, and checking what needs more time, more paint, and more reflection. The studio’s in chaos, a not so beautiful mess. Black-and-white images mask the madness. Before I can dive into a weekend of painting I definitely need to bring some order to this!

Been working on this small oil study , I’ve spent so much time on, it’s feeling like it wants to be a painting. Still tweaking the composition, chasing that elusive balance. I love how something so everyday, so overlooked, creeps in, the raw edges of everyday life.  Is it weird, painting traffic cones? Perhaps? #urbanart #oilpainting #trafficcones#safetycones #paintingcomposition #originalart#smallpainting #artoninstagram

Really chuffed to have my painting ‘Seeing red’ selected for the ING Discerning Eye exhibition. It’s heading to the Mall Galleries London. The 2024 ING Discerning Eye Exhibition will be open at the Mall Galleries and online from Friday 15 to Sunday 24 November 2024.‘Seeing Red’Oil on panel32*32 cmMore about the Discerning Eye The ING Discerning Eye annual exhibition is a show of small, domestic scale, works independently selected by six prominent figures from different areas of the art world: two artists, two collectors and two critics. The selectors choose both from the publicly submitted works and works by personally invited artists. Each selector’s choice is theirs own alone and is hung in separate sections to give each its own distinctive identity. The impression emerges of six small exhibitions within the whole. It provides a rare opportunity for works by lesser-known artists to be hung alongside contributions from internationally recognised names.#oilpainting #ingdiscerningeye#ingdiscerningeyeexhibition#mallgalleries#smallpainting #louiseventris
