Local artist Louise Ventris Wins SCAF Emerging Artist Award for “Threads Through Time”

Louise Ventris has been awarded the 2024 SCAF Emerging Artist Award for her poignant work, “Threads Through Time.” This powerful piece, has garnered significant attention for its social commentary and artistic expression.

“Threads Through Time” is a series of oil portraits that pays tribute to the women murdered by Peter Sutcliffe during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The victims, including Wilma McCann, Emily Jackson, Irene Richardson, Patricia Atkinson, Jayne McDonald, Jean Jordan, Yvonne Pearson, Helen Rytka, Vera Millward, Josephine Whittaker, Barbara Leach, Marguerite Walls, and Jacqueline Hill.

The SCAF Emerging Artist Award has been created to acknowledge up and coming artists of all ages who are living in the Yorkshire region. The intent of the award is to bring recognition and awareness to outstanding visual artists in the region who are at the early stages of their career.
